JAMES (JIM) WEDDERBURN and The West Indies Federation Team 1960 in Rome

This picture of the four Olympians and their coach, contains an error. Although there is a striking resemblance between Mr. Mel Spence and Mr. James (JIM)Wedderburn, this photos has labeled the fourth person to the right as Mr. Mel Spence as the person first left in the picture and again as fourth right in the picture. If you study these two images carefully you will concluded that my observations are correct. The height from waist to toes is different and the check bones are not the same. Please check this out. I have been looking for a good picture of Mr. James Wedderburn. He was one of the four in the 4x400m relay in the Rome 1960 Olympics. He is constantly being mislabeled as George Kerr or Mel Spence in all of the pictures. These men do bear strong resemblances to each other and the pictures need to be studied carefully to be properly labeled. Thank you for handling this request. I.

This poem is dedicated to the Jamaican Olympians that have so bejeweled the entire Caribbean region. All of us that have watched this Olympics must know how difficult this is to have achieved. For all of the Caribbean nations that have competed and presented themselves and their flags to this glorious world event - Beijing 2008 Olympics - you all have made us proud of you and we wish to embrace you all with our thanks. From New York, USA: We wish you all much future success in the coming years

The Caribbean nations has provided some past Olympics under the banner of the British West Indies Federation - in the Rome Olympiad events of 1960. Both Jamaica and Barbados took home the Bronze Medal in the Men's 4×400m Relay. These Men two of which are: George Kerr of Jamaica and James (JIM) Wedderburn of Barbados. We should take this opportunity to also remember this victory of these great men. We should have pictures of all four men and have our children know of these historical achievers. Their are not in the Hall of Fame for the NOC,(NATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE) but we can still acknowledge them, so that these new athletes will as time go by not be forgotten and ignored years later.

(Personal Message: Hi: This is an interview of Martyn Forde in his first time Olympiad experience held in Beijing China.) Representing Barbados' Olympic Swim Team to perform in the 50m Freestyle, Event 25 - Heat 7 Lane 3, August 14, 2008. He placed a steady time in his heat keeping a 23.07 seconds maintaining his steady shaving off of time that earned him his position as an Olympiad. I've watched the competitions; there"s a great deal of swimmers participating in these grueling preparations and trials that take place leading up to that moment on the podiums for each Heat. There were 13 Heats divided between pre-qualified swimmers of each Country. This leads to Semi-finals 1 and 2; then from this to the 50m Freestyle Finals. In this Finale the final swimmers ranged 21.30 seconds (the winning time) to 21.67 the last swimmers time in the competition. This finale has Olympians that are trying to either keep the world record or break the world record. for the 50m Freestyle. Having competed in prior Olympics it is a fierce battle to the experienced Olympiad trying to hold on to their titles. The accomplishments of this level of competition reflects the veteran winners of each country with the new winners and competitors of each country. With a cast of thousands. It is Epic theater predisposed with finalist based on prior achievements. Like all such magnificent spectacles you get to see how it's done by those that have achieved the highest level of performance and the talent of those in the wings soaring their way into this glorious flight of Eagles flocking in height. It was a Great show. USA swimmers maintained their prior leads and created new leads as a team. Michael Phelps made great strides for himself and other youngsters that have disabilities that are not understood by those not affected. Give my love to all. Also I couldn't find a picture of the first Barbadian to win a Bronze Medal in the Rome 1960 Olympics; he ran the 4x400m relay they have him listed as Jim Wedderburn, his full name is James Wedderburn. He ran with a team of guys from Jamaica under the British West Indies Federation banner when Barbados was not yet recognized as a nation and Jamaica and Barbados participated as the British West Indies Federation that dissolved some time hence of 1966. Love to all Itha

Subject: ETHANOL

What is Ethanol and what are its uses? Is it a by product of Ether and Alcohol? It has been used in homeopathic Garlic Cough Syrup made in England. The medicinal benefit of the Garlic cough syrup has been known and is used. The Garlic cough syrup is sold at some produce and/or health food stores here in the USA. How will Ethanol be used and processed in Barbados as a fuel? It is interesting that Barbados such a small island would be chosen for such a huge amount of Ethanol to be produced there. Such plants require large degrees of electrical power and fumes controlling mechanisms to protect the sea life and food supply as well as air quality in Barbados, it is wonderful that our heads of state are so well versed in the ecological and geological affects of production of Ethanol. Our modern day need for clean energy, air and water worldwide is paramount. The United States company that is producing this effort is well aware of the increased motor vehicle abundance in Barbados (every one person, one car in Barbados.) This is exciting that Barbados has become such a player in high level industrialization such as this. It sounds like they have a large plant with so few needed to run it. Perhaps the air pollution levels of gases from exhaust pipes will be decreased and the roads will be a little friendlier. One thing Barbados has in common with China is a lot of cars and increased cause for concern of health and environmentally safe industrial production. The long lines of traffic on Barbados' highways and roads are so tedious a wait just to get to their homes where they can finally park their cars next to each other.

Harold Hoyte's books are great fun. Dear Harold don't forget to ISBN for the bookstores. In the US there are Bajans (Barbadians) and relevant others in larger pockets of varied Caribbean communities in places like New York, Florida, California, Boston etc. We like to laugh out loud and have a good time reading books that can tug at our hearts, delve into our dirty little minds, and come out of it, laughing, relieved and having only an image of a little toothbrush in our minds. Harold Hoyte your books are naughty and nice. This kind of intellectual stimulation keeps you thinking on your feet, cleverly designed puns that many writers of Comedy and Satire would die for on Broadway stages in New York. Love & Peace out to you. www.adn.vpweb.com
